Throwback Tuesday - GT S3R8

As we've experienced the best season finale of MCRO so far, today I've decided to come back to what was the most controversial season finale in MCRO so far and one of the most controversial MCRO races ever - the GT S3 Season Finale.

Let's start with what happened before the race - the original track, which was The Nur River Run was very unbalanced, with gaps being as big as 4-5 seconds between the fastest and the slowest car. There had to be some changes done - starting off with a track change, which happened about 48 hours before the race, which caused chaos. The track that was picked was "City Trip" made by Sky. The track seemed okay, but what didn't seem okay was the Alt Layout, which included a tight section on the Street Race, which made many people mad, but at the same time the changes were there so the cars could be balanced. What made it EVEN worse was the fact that RSR couldn't run on Race Tyres, which again, was made to balance the grid.

Below are the reactions from the community:

Race day came - the track was unchanged despite the requests, which left many people dissapointed. Still, 7 people came to do the quali, with RSR and McLaren battling for the Constructor's Championship.

The quali went well for McLaren, with Sot getting pole position and Agg coming in 2nd, making it a front row lockout for them. The closest RSR driver was john in P4, followed by Avith in P5. Also, Cool_SWATBoy had somehow managed to come in P3 in the Corvette C8.R, which was the 2nd slowest car on the grid.

The race started and Sot started well with a lead, however he was overtaken by Egg pretty soon. The lead didn't last long though, as Egg crashed in the most hated section of the track - the Street Race chicane. On lap 6, Agg was leading and both porsches were right behind him. Not long after, we saw the first DNF of Dhen, as he managed to have the drifting issue that came with the CDT Drift Update.

Lap 9 - Sot has dropped in P4, promoting both porsches to P2 and P3. Agg was still leading and McLaren was currently ahead of RSR in the championship standings. RSR needed to do something to stop McLaren from taking the championship, which would be hard as the leader, Agg had a decent gap between him and P2. After the pit window had been opened, the situation looked kinda better for the RSR guys as Sot dropped to P5, behind Egg. They were however still 3 points behind McLaren, according to the constructor's championship leaderboard which was being updated mid-race.

Lap 27 - Sot crashes, however he is still in P5. Meanwhile, Egg quits the race possibly due to his laptop/phone battery being low.

A lap later and John has started a championship-deciding battle for P1 - if John takes P1 RSR would get the championship, but that would be if Avith keeps P3 and Sot keeps P5, which gave some hope as the gap between P4 and P5 was quite big. All John needed to do was to get P1, and for Avith to keep his P3. This started to be exciting, as one mistake and the championship could've been in different hands.

Lap 34 - John was kinda losing to Agg, but had still a chance of leading. Meanwhile, Avith had built a gap between him in P3 and Syrz in P4, which was good news for the RSR guys. Avith was also caught cutting corners often, which resulted in a verbal warning.

A few laps later Agg started building a gap, which wasn't good news for the RSR team. But then - John (possibly) crashes at the docks and loses to the McLaren of Agg. With only 5 laps to go, there was little chance of RSR getting the championship. But that was nothing crazy compared to what would happen a lap later.

This image can only be described as "The Grave of RSR's Constructor's Championship". Avith disconnected from the race, taking 10 points away from the RSR team and making the lead for McLaren even bigger. The championship battle was over with only 4 laps to go. John still won the Driver's Championship, however - but it still wasn't enough as RSR's teammates during the season didn't do really well and have dragged down the Constructor's Points a bit.

The race finished with Agg taking the win, John coming in 2nd and Syrz coming in 3rd after Avith's DNF. That also meant McLaren won Constructor's Championship for S3 GT.

After the race, the McLaren guys have started celebrating, however the RSR guys had mixed reactions. While john congratulated the winning team, Jeno (former RSR team leader)'s reaction was different:

After this "terrible" race, Mat has decided to completely scrap the Alt Layout of the track and never race on it again. Season 3 of GT can only be described by one word: "mess". It was unbalanced, with RSR winning by a big margin really often and other cars not being similar in terms of performance, chaotic as there were some changes that made many people angry (ex. RSR race tyre ban) and the races sometimes wrong results. The lessons were learned, and after GT S4 was voted out, Hypercar S2 testing started, with all tracks being picked so the races could be as close as possible. The race tyre ban was also dropped for good and it was decided to not change the track at least 72 hours before the race - which has happened only once after the messy GT S3 finale.

With MCRO Season 4 slowly coming to an end, will we see GT return in Season 5? To decide that we'll be hosting a poll really soon, expect it after Hypercar S2.
