MTCC S1 R6

MTCC moved on to what was an interesting track, a hypercar track. With long straights and packed corners each giving advantage to cars with better top speeds and cornering respectively. This race had a few surprising outcomes.

Quali

Sot qualified on pole comfortably, followed by Agg who got there after some struggles battling against Obli. Obli made an error on the final corner of the final lap tossing him down into P4. Lio made it to P3 over the line. Blaze qualified in P5 followed by Zenvo in the M3. The race saw a new rookie, secrpanther driving for Alpine. He didn't make it to quali and therefore had t ostart at the back along with Dhen

Sprint

Blaze got a chance to start from pole thanks to the reversed top 5 grid. He got away decently well along with his teammate and the lotuses. Lio wasn't able to resonate with their starts and he dropped back a bit. The 2 Lotuses passed Blaze on the straights and were a small distance ahead but at the final chicanes, the Mustangs gained by an unimaginable amount. They went from half a second behind to a similar amount ahead by the time they got to the start/finish line. This again went on for a while but Blaze couldn't hang on for long and Sot ultimately took the lead with Agg once again finding himself in a battle for P2 with Obli. Nothing changed much, Zenvo lost a lot of pace and was lapped by the Lotuses along with the Alpine who was accused of using a better engine. The Lotuses won with a 1-2 followed by Obli in P3. Lio managed to pass Blaze for P4 towards the latter stages of the sprint.

Race

The Lotuses started with a front row lockout, Lio started from P3 again and the Fords followed in P4 and 5 followed by Zenvo. Dhen and Sec were starting from the back along with Vark who decided to drive for Mercedes, a team which had no drivers representing it for the past few races. Sot and Agg got away well again along with the Mustangs, Lio had similar issues again along with the rest of the drivers. An early mistake dropped Blaze and Vark behind by a bit, Sot and Agg were taking the top 2 positions followed by Lio and Obli who were battling for P3. Blaze was running in P5, Zenvo was battling Vark for P6 with Sec making his way up from P8. However, Sec was caught passing the BMW M3 as well as the Mercedes C63 on the straightline when both of them were doing top speeds. Both of the cars had a superior top speed to the Alpine. He was immediately kicked out of the server to prevent the situation from escalating. Zenvo and Blaze both made mistakes dropping them further back, however Sot, Agg, Lio, Obli and Vark were holding their positions. The battle for P3 between Lio and Obli intensified with both of them swapping places periodically. In the meantime Vark had managed to find some pace in the Mercede and was slowly closing the gap to the duo. With around 5 laps to go, Vark managed to catch the pair and a few laps later made the pass for P3 after a battle with Lio. Lio gave it everything and was hanging on to the positions and to his delight, when everyone pit towards the end of the pit window Lio had a better pit stop than Vark and managed to pass him and hold on to P3. Sot and Agg were still leading with a small gap with Obli running in P5 and Blaze in P6. Dhen was running last. Lio hung on to P3 and finished there by less than a second. Obli followed, then came Blaze and Zenvo and finally Dhen.

P3 was M3's highest finishing position, and P4 was Mercedes'. The race was mostly made interesting by the battle for P3. The only driver to be lapped this race was Dhen. Lio picked up DOTD for this race as well!

The next track is a bit unique with fewer straights and a variety of corners, will it show us anything different? I guess so!
