MCRO - The Story (pt.1)

21st of June is a special day for MCRO - as it turns 1 year old. On June 21st 2022, Mat's CDT Racing Orginazation would be released to public after a goodweek of setting up. Since then, the server has hosted 3 seasons of GT, 2 seasons of Hypercar, 1 season of F3 and 1 season of F1. In total, including off-season events there were 54 races. There were amazing races, like F1 S1 R7, chaotic races, like GT S3 R8, controversial races, like GT S2 R1 and boring races, like Hypercar S2 R3.

The Early Days

The plans to start a new Car Dealership Tycoon racing server started back in May 2022, after hosting a bunch of race events in the official Foxzie server. The main goal was to make a racing server with a points system which then would decide a champion - the inspiration was taken from Sabo's and Gab's CDT racing leauges and the Project Trackday Racing Series. Also, the only CDT racing leauge at the time, The Racing Hub, had no races going on for some time, which was an another reason to make the new racing server exist.

After the approval from Rubiks, the server was created and then it started being formed (basically creating roles, channels, restrictions etc.). After about a week of setting up, decorating, testing and more, the server was opened to public and the first race would be hosted on 24th June, 3 days after the server had opened - it was the Porsche 911 Cup, a 50 lap race on the old circuit race with the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. On the race day, the server was filled with people quickly and the race went quite well. It was won by john, with DisBruhName coming in 2nd and Alan coming in 3rd. This was only the first "showcase" race, as the first real MCRO race would be hosted on 3rd June, after Mat's return from vacation.

First Real Races

The race saw hobryder qualify on pole position, with Sor, jake and quack coming close. However, hob fell off in pace during the race, with Sor and john battling for the lead. It was the first ever race and we already saw some battles - for P1 and for P3. (I've made an article about the race and the whole season itself). The race was won by John, with Sor coming in 2nd and Vark coming in 3rd.

During the 2nd race, only 6 people came, with 5 starting the race and 4 finishing it. However we saw an another battle for P1 between Egg, john and immortal. Egg took the win, with john coming in 2nd and immortal coming in 3rd. The next race took place at the CDT Mountain Race, and again, we had battles - this time between teammates. John took the win at that one.

During that time we saw a new series for all members: The Shelby GT500 Cup, which was supposed to be an entry-level series for those who weren't fast enough to race in the main GT series. The first race on Circuit went quite well and was won by quack. At the same time the problem of unbalanced cars was finally noticed - as the Lambo Huracan Performante was too fast, and some cars like the McLaren 720S and Nissan GT-R were too slow. Some members started testing, however no replacement was decided at the time.

Race 4 was the first race to be hosted on a custom track, and it seemed like Sor would win that one, as he led for some time - however Egg took the lead, Sor lost focus, dropped to 3rd and eventually left MCRO for a good 2 months.

After that race the mid-season break started - and during it we saw a CDT Map Update which changed the entire map, meaning that all current circuits would go to a waste - including one of my favourite's, the Indy 300 Course as it looked like the real counterpart. That also meant that some tracks in the calendar had to be re-done, which took some time. The final race on the old map was hosted, and it was the Shelby GT500 Cup on the old Mountain Race, which was won by Avith.

New Horizons

After the mid-season break had concluded, MCRO GT R5 was hosted - and it saw some changes (apart from the new map). The Nissan team was now the Lexus team, and it used the Lexus LFA. It seemed decent, as it got 2nd place during qualifying (driven by DisortionJayden) and it led the race for a good few seconds, however after some time it started falling off, eventually ending with a DNF from Disortion. We also saw a battle between Egg and john during the opening laps, however as the race went on, Egg had built a gap and ended up winning the race.

Race 6 was the championship decider, as both john and egg would be equal on points after the finale, if john wins and egg finishes 2nd - it was unsure of what to do if both of them finish like that. There was a suggestion of doing a 1v1 race, however it was rejected and the championship would be decided by the amount of wins - which were the same, then the amount of 2nd places, which was also the same, then the amount of podiums, which was the same, and it went on. It was a crazy situation as it was just the first season of GT.

During race day, we saw the McLaren team form into the Ferrari team, which used the SF90. Lamborghini absolutely dominated that day, as it got pole position and lapped almost every car - it was so fast there were 2 safety cars to prevent the domination, but the race was still won by john with Gogo coming in 2nd and Egg coming in 3rd, meaning that john got the championnship, and Vark, who owned the Dodge team at the time won the constructor's championship.

The first season of GT was exciting, which gave hope for the future seasons - GT S2 would see 2 new cars - Porsche 911 RSR and Chevrolet Corvette C8.R. It also saw some car revamps to make the grid a bit more balanced. There also was a completely new endurance series - Hypercar with some of CDT's fastest track cars, like the Pagani Zonda R and the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Season 2 started to look really good and would start in September, after about 3 weeks of no races. However, that is a story for the 2nd part, which will be posted tomorrow (as of the time I'm writing this). Again, happy birthday MCRO!
